OVERLOAD

Well, I did it. I quit my weekend job. My load is now lightened, however that is not to imply that it is light. I enjoy what I've got now. My full-time job is great, co-workers included. And as far as school goes, I'm taking a class from a prof. that I used to (right, past tense, whatever) have a crush on and the other one. . . well, there's no previous or current crush, but she's a neat lady.

I must vent, however. I did a shitty thing by quitting. I was on the schedule tonight and tomorrow, and the new 3 week rotation was just about to come out. I called in this afternoon to talk to the HR lady and give her the news. She wasn't very happy with me, understandably, and when it was all said and done, I felt so bad I thought I was gonna puke.

*for those of you who don't know me personally, I generally vent my guilt to dissolve it by hearing comments like "you didn't do anything wrong" or "that job sucked anyway" or something to that extent . . . hint hint*

When I went in for the interview/paperwork, the HR lady, we'll call her Ms. Disappointed, and I were trying to figure out a convenient time for me to come in for orientation. As it turned out, they held the position for me for 2 weeks so I could finish up some stuff and go to Ohio for a family thing. Don't think for a second that she didn't remind me of that when I told her I was bailing at the last minute. . . 4 hours before my shift. I'm such a shitty person (see above *). Ms. Disappointed proceeded to tell me that she had to put me down as a "non rehire" for the future at that store. I gotta tell ya, my heart was broken. Seriously though, I feel guilty. I would hate to be in her position and can only imagine what she thinks. But hey, it's business right?

Well, it's late and my eyelids are heavy. It's time to go to bed and not wake up tomorrow morning until I want to. *sigh*

Been there done that! It's a big store, not some Mom and Pop place that depends on each and every one of its employees. Besides - it was temp work and they can bite your ass!

Hear Hear! I'd take you out to celebrate but you live too far.

Bet you could get a big $$$ job down here if you want. ;) Hint Hint.

Any and every business has to have a backup plan for just this thing. Many businesses, THE MINUTE, you quit, escort you to the door, no notice needed. I would let this go and not waste any more energy on it. It's in the past.

For what its worth, I'm on the board of my sons nursery school. Our director just quit, in the beginning of the school year and WILL NOT give us the 30 days in her contract. YES, contract. A major store can deal with this easily.
